Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I fill in for another team and play 2 games in one weekend?
You can fill in for another Subiaco Team but only to avoid a forfeit. A player can only fill-in if they are registered with Subiaco. But teams must comply with fill-in rules, or their game will be forfeited.
A player may fill in for a team with less than 6 of their regular players eg it a team has 6 of their regulars they don’t need a fill-in. If a team has 5 of their regular players, they can have 1 fill-in 4 players; 2 fill-ins 3 players; 3 fill-ins etc.
Fill-ins must be from the same club and can only make up to 6 players in the team they are filling in for.
However, you must only fill-in for a higher grade (U14-3 can only fill-in for U14-2 or U14-1 team; a U14-1 player can only fill-in for U16s teams). A player can only fill-in for a maximum of 5 games in the season.
Once you have arranged the fill-in player(s) you need to assign them to the team on Play HQ on the tablet before the game. Do not just use the absent player’s name. Ensure the correct spelling of their name and date of birth.
Email us on communications@subiacobbc.com.au if you require other team manager’s contact details when looking for a fill-in player.
2. What if I have a question throughout the season who do I contact?

With over 400 teams in the competition, Hawks are unable to offer BYE request, we are sorry for this inconvenience.

4. How do I request a change in time for a game?
With over 400 teams in the competition, it is a real effort to change fixtures and it causes issues for courts, umpires etc. It creates a lot of work. SORRY but Hawks can no longer offer change in game timings.

Any player interested needs to register with a Junior Club and as per above, the Junior Club will place the player in a team.
These sessions commence March/April through to August/September
6. What does the Team Manager do?
It’s easy! You are the contact between the coach/club and the players. It involves:
- Collecting and distributing the team playing tops pre-season
- Getting all parents onto a team app (Team app/Whats app) to notify of game and/or training changes (game time and court)
- Organise a scoring roster so there is a scorer on the bench each game
- As stadium scoring is operating, select the players who are playing and ensure the number is correct against the player
- Let the team know when team photos are being taken
- Notify the club of the need to forfeit or if the team has any game day issues
- Collect and return playing tops at the end of the season
7. Scoring
All parents are expected to help score throughout the season. Every team does it on a roster system, your Team Manager usually does a roster, and they will send it around to advise when you are scoring.
If you are away, then please swap your scoring roster with another parent.
It is important to keep a professional, neutral position when scoring, saving your enthusiastic cheering until after the game. Things sometimes go wrong with equipment, and it is okay to attract the attention of the referees when the ball is not in play to sort out any scoring problems.
9. Where do I get my uniform from?
You will be given a team jersey by your team manager to be returned at the end of the season. Subiaco shorts are available online, go to Uniforms. Lost jerseys will incur a $55 replacement cost.
Please note: All players in the team must be correctly attired by Week 2 of the season. The penalty for incorrect uniform is three game points per player for U12 and below and five game points per player for U14 and above being awarded to the opposing team. Officials reserve the right to prevent a player from participating in a game if they deem an item of clothing to be dangerous, eg, shorts with pockets. Points must be awarded before the conclusion of the half-time period.
A new player is allowed one week to conform to the uniform rules.
Compression garments can be worn as long as they are skintight and are black, white or the same colour as the playing uniform.
