Every Team MUST have a coach.

Sorry, we do not provide coaches. Please arrange a coach through parents, older siblings, friends or players.

Working with Children Check

If a coach or assistant coach or team manager receives any form of payment/financial reward, WWC is required regardless of age.

Exemptions under category 12:

If a coach or assistant coach or team manager is under 18 years old and is a volunteer, NO WWC is required.

If a coach or assistant coach or team manager is over 18 years old and is a volunteer and has a child on the team or within our Subiaco Basketball Club, NO WWC is required.

Game Day

Should you or your team experience any issues during the game please report to the Games Controller, Referee Coach or a Perry Lakes Hawks Official.

BWA Coaching Clinics

Throughout the season, Basketball WA (BWA) offers a range of coaching courses that provide opportunities for coaches to gain official coaching qualifications and accreditation.

How to update Player Jersey Number in Play HQ

Once you have your team bag, your next task is to assign players their jersey’s and note the player jersey number. These jersey numbers then need to be entered into Play HQ before your grading game. It is best to do this the day before the games as it’s time consuming and there isn’t much time to input this information before the game.

This can only be done if:

You have registered on Play HQ as the Team Manager* (or Coach); AND
You have been granted access to your team on Play HQ by the club*; AND
Your team has games fixtured.
*You can check if you are registered by logging into your Play HQ account. Click “My Teams” “[Team Number]” and then “Squad”. If “Squad” doesn’t appear on the menu bar, then you either aren’t registered or don’t yet have access, in that case please contact us.

To add jersey numbers:

Log into the Play HQ Participant Portal.
Click on “My Teams”.
Select the sport and team, eg “Subiaco U12 boys SU262”
Select a game (make sure you select Round 1 game – may not be in order) by clicking on the “>” on the right of the tab.
Select the yellow “Manage” below the team box.
Scroll down to the blue “Select Team” and click on “+ Select Team”.
Select all players, they will then move up to the “Line-Up” above (to add players to the line-up, click the “+” button next to the player you wish to add).
Once players are added to the game, you can enter the jersey numbers for each player in the box beside the player.
Click “Next” and then “Save”

Add ALL your players to the first game and add their player jersey number in Play HQ as the info will be saved for future games. If someone is not playing, then just remove them from the line-up at the game.

Fill-in Player Rules

A player can fill-in for another Subiaco Team but only to avoid a forfeit. A player can only fill-in if they are registered with Subiaco. Teams must comply with fill-in rules, or their game will be forfeited.

A player may fill-in for a team with less than 6 of their regular players eg it a team has 6 of their regulars they don’t need a fill-in. If a team has 5 of their regular players they can have 1 fill-in, if a team has 4 of their regular players they can have 2 fill-ins, if a team has 3 of their regular players they can have 3 fill-ins etc.

For U10MB and U10 and U12 a fill-in player can be from the same division or lower division/age group.

For U14, U16 and U18 a fill-in player must be from a lower division/age group or from a different pool of the same division.

Example - a player in U14Male C1 can only fill-in for:- U14M C2, U14M C3, U14M B, U14M A, U16 or U18.

A player can only fill-in for a maximum of 4 games per team in the season before they are required to move into that team. (see Hawks By-Laws 13.5).

Once you have arranged the fill-in player(s) you need to add the player(s) to your team line-up on the IPAD/tablet as a ‘Fill-In’ player prior to the game starting. Do not use the absent player’s name. Ensure the correct spelling of their name, date of birth and email address all match to the player’s registered Play Hq account or the game will be deemed a forfeit.

If the team requires fill-in players the team manager can post a message on the relevant What’s App group chat with all details; age group, division, date, time, venue, number of fill-in players required.

Forfeits

If you need to forfeit a game, please let us know ASAP. Send us a Forfeit Notification by selecting ‘Forfeits’ from our website main menu (please contact us via email or WhatsApp if you can’t remember the password). Complete all details on the form and submit. Once the form is submitted, the relevant parties will automatically receive an email notification, and the individual who submits the form will also receive a copy of the email.

Perry Lakes Hawks shall levy a forfeit fine as per the table below

> 24 Hours Notice = No Fine
< 24 Hours Notice > 12 Hours Notice = $25
< 12 Hours Notice > 4 Hours Notice = $50
No Notice = $100 & 2 Premiership Points.

Please note Subiaco Club will pass on these fines to the teams.
